World Mail Match Information

Mail Match Rounds

The IFAA has 2 mail match events normally each year, they are the World Indoor Archery Mail Match (WIAMM) and the World Outdoor Flint Mail Match (WOFAMM).

These Mail Match events are worldwide archery competition open to all non-professional archers, not just IFAA archers. By entering, you can compete against your fellow archers from all current member nations as well as archers from other organisations who wish to participate.

These international Mail Matches are more of a fun type shoot as no champion title is given and medallion type buttons are issued for 1st, 2nd and 3rd and all participants do get a participation button.

The scores for each round are required to be submitted by a certain date so that all participants can see the results and enjoy this chance to compete with your fellow archers from all the members nations of the IFAA and any other archers who choose to participate.

The WIAMM competition starts in January, with final results published in May and the WOFAMM competition starts in June, with final results published in October of the same year.

For both of the Mail Match events, results are published for each round after all scores have been submitted by the required date for that round.

World Indoor Archery Mail Match

The main criteria for this mail match event is that you shoot as per the rules for the 300 indoor round at 20 yards and 10 yards for cubs. This can be shot indoors or outdoors ( On your club practice range)

Disabled archers may enter the mail match in their own division. The divisions are limited to the Freestyle Unlimited, the Freestyle Limited and the Bowhunter Unlimited shooting styles for adult men and women (Veterans, Adults and Young Adults are combined in the same division)

Archers who shoot these styles for the first time are required to submit proof of their disability.

World Outdoor Flint International Mail Match

The “Outdoor Flint Round”, is a “short” field round where the maximum shooting distance is limited to 30 yards and the number of targets is limited to either a seven targets standard unit and shooting two such units, or a double standard unit of fourteen targets. The latter one is of course more work and needs more ground. However if the number of competitors exceeds 28 archers, you will require fourteen butts.

This range can be set out on the practice range or a small field like a soccer field. As the distance between the butts need not be more than 5 yards, such a field need not be more than 40×40 yards to allow for seven butts, provided there is a “safe area” behind the butts. Such a seven butt range allows for a single detail of 14 archers, to which a second detail can be added. The archers in the second detail shoot after the archers in the first detail have scored.

Disabled archers may enter the mail match in their own division. The divisions are limited to the Freestyle Unlimited, Freestyle Limited and Bowhunter Unlimited shooting styles for adult men and women (Senior, Veterans, Adults and Young Adults age category are combined in the same division)

Archers who shoot these styles for the first time are required to submit proof of their disability.
