World Council 2020 – First Postponed, Now Virtual

2 Sep 2021 | Newsletter

With the pandemic situation on hand and the postponement / cancellation of the World Field Archery Championships for the first time in the history of the association we are forced to cancel the World Council in its traditional form and invite to a Virtual World Council.

Unfortunately, our current statutes do not allow to make it an official meeting, however it is agreed to make use of this opportunity for the ground-breaking work required to bring our Constitution, our rules etc. to the necessary level helping to avoid such a situation for the future.

The delegates will receive in due time an outlook to the proposed program giving ample time to request additional agenda items / shift in time patterns etc.

Since our members are distributed all over the World, our intention is to provide a practical solution to manage time zones:

  • We will have an initial preparatory session on Friday, 3rd of September – giving all delegates the opportunity to check on their access to the VCC site and to receive a briefing on the meeting etiquette. This session will take place at 8:00 CET and will be repeated at 19:00 CET to cover all time zones.
  • Saturday, 4th of September will see reporting sessions starting from 8:00 CET. All sessions will be recorded and stored on a clout drive accessible to all delegates. So you can conveniently review the report sessions at a suitable time. Those being present are invited to present their questions and for those delegates not being present we have the opportunity to submit questions for the Sunday sessions.
  • Sunday, 5th of September is primarily for discussion items and again, the discussions will be scheduled in several sessions which will be recorded and provided for convenient access.

As a novelty, we allow delegates to invite experts from their Association to attend specific information / discussion items. The accreditation procedure will be provided to the Delegates with the programme in the cause of the next week.

We see this Virtual World Council as a great opportunity to bring our family closer to each other and to provide more transparency in the matters of the association. In turn we hope to support with this our member associations and their members in getting more people interested in the sports administrative and – development side of Field Archery.
